Verizon adds FiOS franchises

Group mulls ultrawideband over coax standard
The WiMedia Alliance has convened a group to consider whether it should draft a standard for ultrawideband networking over coax. AT&T taps Networx subcontractor
Electronic Data Systems has been selected by AT&T as one of the subcontractors for a federal telecommunications contract. Bharti Airtel starts FMC pilot tests

Court halts NTT from selling stake in Sri Lanka Telecom
The Supreme Court in Sri Lanka has stopped Japan-based Nippon Telegraph & Telephone from selling its stake in Sri Lanka Telecom, which is the island's main telecom company. Last month, NTT reached an accord to sell 25.3% of its 35.2% stake in Sri Lanka Telecom to Global Telecom Holdings, but a petition alleging corruption in the deal led to the Supreme Court's decision.
