SBC Communications plans to sell a television set-top box that can play music, display photos and download files from the Internet. SBC will make the box in a joint venture with privately held 2Wire. Much of the attention at the Consumer Electronics Show, which opens Thursday in Las Vegas, is on a startup company called Orb Networks. Orb sells technology that connects PCs to cell phones, other computers and PDAs through a Web browser.
