- Google pitches idea on radio-spectrum auction to FCC
Google has proposed to the FCC that it allow a "real-time airwaves auction model" for the radio spectrum that the FCC will auction off. The Google model would allow a holder of a spectrum license to auction off unused spectrum to other bidders on a wholesale basis. As the basis for its proposal, Google said that in some cases only 5% of available spectrum was currently being used. USA TODAY/Associated Press

- Verizon gains approval to enter Rhode Island
Rhode Island's Division of Public Utilities and Carriers granted its final approval to Verizon Communications to start offering its FiOS TV service in the state. It's the first time a new company has entered the state's video market in more than 20 years. Verizon will compete with Cox Communications for customers in the state. The Providence Journal (R.I.) - House cracks down on spyware
Anti-spyware legislation was passed by the House on Tuesday in an attempt to protect people against identity theft and other Internet fraud. Spyware is used via the Internet to collect personal data from users, and legislators say about 90% of U.S. computers are infected. The new bill would make spyware a criminal offense and includes $10 million for enforcement over the next four years. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette/Associated Press
