LBS poised to enter mainstream
Wireless carriers are rolling out location-based services in earnest now that GPS chips are standard in a majority of handsets. DVB-H about to go live in Italy
Italy this month is expected to become the first country to launch DVB-H technology on a wide scale, allowing wireless carriers to broadcast live TV to mobile phones just in time for the World Cup. The move will put Italy at the forefront of the developing mobile video market, which is expected to grow quickly as carriers adopt one of the various transmission standards.
