Time Warner, Comcast buy Adelphia
Time Warner and Comcast said they have reached a deal to buy the assets of bankrupt MSO Adelphia Communications for $12.7 billion in cash and 16% of Time Warner Cable shares. In total, the acquisition is worth $17.6 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal. Qualcomm posts a profit, lowers revenue forecast: Qualcomm reported a net income of $532 million for its fiscal second quarter, up from $488 million for the same period last year. AT&T reports higher profit: AT&T posted net income of $529 million for the first quarter, compared with a $304 million profit for the same quarter in 2004. Nokia's profits up, handset market share down: Nokia said it made a net income of $1.13 billion for the first quarter, up 18% from last year.
