BellSouth ramps up fiber rollout
BellSouth said in an FCC filing that it plans to deploy fiber in nearly 60% more locations in 2005 than in 2004. Cingular encourages customers to "Take a Shot"
A new campaign by Omnicom Group's Atmosphere BBDO for Cingular Wireless includes a camera phone photo contest for customers featuring a weekly $500 prize and a $50,000 grand prize to be awarded in September. Cablevision links VoIP to home security systems

Congress may exempt telcos from TV franchise rules
U.S. House and Senate lawmakers yesterday introduced two measures that would make it easier for telcos to offer video services. U.S. hunts Web pirates at home, abroad
The U.S. Department of Justice has launched an 11-nation assault on Internet piracy called Operation Site Down, which began work Wednesday with arrests and shutdowns of distribution servers.
