Siemens decides to keep mobile business unit open

Analyst: Stand-alone VoIP providers may face hurdles
Legg Mason analyst Blair Levin yesterday said VoIP providers not associated with major carriers may face a difficult road ahead. Levin said stand-alone VoIP providers face three potential roadblocks: they lack infrastructure to assure competition and competitive pricing; they don't have protection if incumbents raise access fees; it's no guarantee that the federal government will keep VoIP free from regulation.   Telephony Online (3/7) 

Vonage's Citron sour on cable's triple play
Vonage chief Jeffrey Citron said he believes the triple play of voice, video and data is a useful marketing tool for cable operators, but that it doesn't provide a better experience for consumers. DirecTV president Stern resigns; CEO Carey to assume duties
DirecTV president Mitchell Stern resigned yesterday, a little more than a year after taking charge at the satellite-TV distributor, amid disagreements with DirectTV Group CEO Chase Carey.
