- Former Qwest chief Nacchio guilty of insider trading
Joseph P. Nacchio, the former Qwest chief executive officer, was convicted Thursday on charges of insider trading arising from the sale of more than $100 million of Qwest Communications International stock in 2001. Nacchio could face life in prison, but legal experts said he likely would draw a far lesser sentence. After six days of deliberations, the federal jury found Nacchio guilty of 19 of the 42 counts against him. The same jury acquitted him of 23 other charges involving $49 million in stock trades.
