Survey: SMS takes hold in U.S.
A survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project found about 25% of U.S. adults with mobile phones have used text-messaging features in the past month. Qwest puts heat on MCI shareholders with raised offer
MCI shareholders have a lot to think about now that Qwest has put an $8.4 billion offer on the table. Despite some lingering skepticism among analysts and MCI shareholders, Qwest said it is financially stable enough to handle a merger of such proportions. Verizon Communications, reiterated its position that its bid was still superior. Churn slowing for mobile phone companies
Subscriber churn is showing a downward trend despite new number portability rules, executives from mobile phone companies said yesterday. The executives also said they believed 2005 would be a strong year for subscriber growth.   The Dallas Morning News (3/17) 

Cox makes data, phone gains
Cox said it signed up 89,119 new digital phone customers in the fourth quarter, its biggest gain ever on that front. The MSO also said it added 140,691 cable modem subscribers during the period, and that it ended 2004 with 2.6 million broadband customers, up 585,000 from the end of 2003. Paris calling
Beginning April 6, Verizon Wireless subscribers who are fans of Fox's "The Simple Life" starring Paris Hilton will be able to watch one-minute episodes of the show via mobile phone.
