Eircom shuts down service to small carrier

Irish telecom Eircom has shut off service to Smart Telecom, cutting off about 40,000 residential and business customers. Eircom says Smart, a small carrier that leases lines from Eircom, owes about $5.1 million in unpaid charges.   International Herald Tribune (10/3)

Nokia unveiled a new short-range wireless technology designed to enable connectivity among devices that can't accommodate Bluetooth's power demands.
