SBC, Yahoo! expand partnership
SBC Communications and Yahoo! today are expected to announce a broadening of their three-year relationship to create a host of new Internet, wireless, TV and phone services. Under the agreement, Yahoo! will provide software to link SBC services that currently are not connected. Ofcom puts heat on BT

Congress nears reinstating ban on Internet access tax
The U.S. Senate yesterday approved a bill that would reinstate the ban on Internet taxes, which expired a year ago. The House already has passed a proposal that would make the moratorium permanent, but that chamber now appears likely to settle for the Senate's version.   NYTimes.com/Reuters (11/18) 

Qwest may settle shareholder lawsuits
Qwest reportedly is in advanced talks to settle shareholder lawsuits against it. Any deal could cost the telco more than the $750 million it has set aside for payouts, analysts say.   Denver Rocky Mountain News (11/18) 

Former Nortel employee knew of revenue problems
John Foster, a former Nortel Networks systems manager, says he notified executives at the company that revenue was being booked months before products were shipped to customers, but nothing came of the warning. Nortel says it is "aware of the allegations" but has not commented further. Accounting miscues by the equipment maker currently are the the subject of an SEC probe, as well as a shareholder lawsuit in Canada in which Foster is to appear a witness.   The Wall Street Journal (11/18)
