Lead-free electronics consortium releases white paper

The Pb-free Electronics Risk Management (PERM) Consortium has released a White Paper entitled "Reliability Assessment of Lead-free Electronics in the Aerospace, Defense and High Performance Electronics Industries," which states that without rigorous assessment of application requirements, it is premature to rely solely on existing military and civilian specifications for qualification of systems containing lead-free assemblies in critical, high-reliability, harsh environment applications.

The PERM Consortium provides overarching leadership and coordination of Pb-free electronics risk-management activities to ensure environmentally friendly, reliable electronic systems.

AIA makes acquisition recommendations

American students win international rocket contest fly-off

Student rocketeers from France, the United Kingdom and the United States competed in the Third Annual Transatlantic Rocketry Challenge. The four-member team from Penn Manor High School in Millersville, Pa., posted the best score to win the international fly-off. Horsforth School in Leeds, England, placed second. The French team was unable to launch its rocket due to technical problems. Read more.
