Virginia lawmakers urge rethink of telecom taxes

A group of Virginia lawmakers, including Gov. Mark Warner, is pushing to revamp the way the commonwealth regulates telecommunications services to accommodate new technologies making waves in the market. Instead of having a patchwork of different tax rates, the lawmakers want to levy a flat tax of 5% on a variety of different services, including VoIP, which has been at the center of numerous debates.
