Electric companies see multiple advantages to BPL
Broadband over power line, or BPL, could become a strong competitor to cable, wireless and phone in providing access to Internet services. But that's not why electric utilities are interested. Consolidated Edison, Hawaiian Electric Co., Southern Co., and others are studying the potential of BPL's lightning-fast, two-way communications paths to help manage their core business.
