China may delay 3G licenses
China is likely to delay doling out 3G licenses due to a technical glitch with the emerging TD-SCDMA standard, which the Chinese government has been pushing as a homegrown alternative to wideband-CDMA and CDMA2000 1X, reports research firm iSuppli. It is unlikely China will ditch TD-SCDMA to keep the rollout on track because companies have invested so much money in the standard, the research firm says.
