Two names emerge as possible replacements for Michael Powell
FCC Commissioner Kevin J. Martin and Commerce Department official Michael D. Gallagher reportedly have emerged as front-runners to succeed departing FCC Chairman Michael Powell. Powell's staffers are said to prefer Gallagher, who has a strong telecommunications background. President George W. Bush is expected to name Powell's replacement soon.
