RIM settles patent lawsuit

Research in Motion, maker of the BlackBerry e-mail device, said it would pay $450 million to settle a lawsuit brought by Arlington, Va.-based NTP, which alleged RIM infringed on its patents. Under the deal, RIM will be allowed to continue selling BlackBerry devices without interference from NTP.
