Cox announces VoIP plans

MSO Cox Communications and telephony partner Nortel Networks have announced plans to upgrade Cox's local phone service from circuit-switched to a hybrid model that also will support VoIP. The plan marks a major shift for Cox, which led the cable industry's move to circuit-switched telephony in the mid-1990s.
