Senior Account Director

 

SmartBrief is looking for an experienced, solutions-oriented Senior Account Director to join our online advertising sales team. Our Senior Account Directors work to understand our clients' complex advertising/marketing needs and then build and sell compelling solutions, delivering measurable results to companies that market online. The Senior Account Director will have a proven history of online/interactive ad sales success.

 

The ideal candidate has a track record of success in digital media sales, preferably in B2B. He/she will call on advertising agencies as well as clients at all levels. We're looking for a sales professional with a consultative sales approach and is pro-active in driving revenue and delivering solutions that meet and exceed our clients' needs. He/she must be results-driven, have strong analytical, creative and negotiation skills, and be able to manage multiple projects and agendas at the same time. The Senior Account Director will articulate the SmartBrief value proposition to the advertising community.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engage and strategize with senior level executives at advertisers and agencies to demonstrate how SmartBrief can deliver their marketing objectives and drive revenue to their business
  • Develop and cultivate deep relationships with senior client executives at SVP, VP and CMO levels.
  • Longer-term strategic initiatives: Identify, communicate and execute innovative and game-changing programs above and beyond the day-to-day media buying process.
  • Short-term tactical efforts: Deliver creative, effective efficient solutions to a high volume of quarterly requests for proposal to maximize SmartBrief's share of allocated media budgets. Upsell opportunities whenever possible.
  • Identify and understand trends within client markets and industries.
  • Meet and exceed target quarterly revenue goals.
  • Position SmartBrief as the resource for digital space by proactively providing smart client research and industry specific information.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of Interactive Sales experience, B2B preferred
  • Proven track record of success driving revenue through the development of long-term strategic relationships
  • Demonstrated track record of structuring and managing complex negotiations to successful closure and delivery of large accounts (at a 6-figure level)
  • Understand how technology works and the ability to explain in ordinary terms how SmartBrief capabilities meet stated client needs

As part of SmartBrief's Partner Services team, the Client Services Manager works to ensure the success of over 60 partnerships and accounts across a broad spectrum of leading trade association, corporate, and non-profit clients. S/he provides day-to-day, front line contact with clients to ensure superior service and to maximize revenue potential by developing and executing strategic growth and renewal plans. The Client Services Manager collaborates with departments throughout the company to anticipate client needs, innovate, and problem solve.

 

Skills and Requirements:

  • 2 years of related client service experience. B to B media company or creative agency/design/publicity firm background preferred.
  • A strong sense of organization with strict attention to detail. Project management experience is a plus.

Quality Assurance Tester

 

SmartBrief is seeking a quality assurance tester with experience in web applications and rapid release cycles. The tester will be responsible for managing the weekly testing and build cyles as well as developing new ideas on how to improve the current process.

 

Skills and Requirements:

  • Demonstrated superior knowledge of version control systems and systematic testing in a web application environment.
  • Experience with designing test plans, test cases and use/implementation of automated testing systems.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, contribute to new ideas and take direction positively.
  • Grace under pressure, strong work ethic, and interpersonal skills with a customer service attitude.
  • Ability to summarize defects and effectively communicate them to developers and/or business owners.
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system and SQL databases. Experience writing SQL queries for test validations is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise and should be comfortable escalating to the proper parties when needed.
  • Knowledge of java and shell scripting a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer-related field and at least 2-4 years of manual functional testing work experience.

Job duties include editing for content as well as AP style, knowledge of proper grammar and ability to edit under tight deadlines. Full-time applicants who can work from our Washington, D.C., office will get first consideration, and all full-time applicants will have to be available to interview in person.
