U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., on Monday sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, asking for Greek yogurt to be considered a high-protein meat alternative under the federal school-lunch program. Schumer said the change would give students better access to the high-protein food, aid New York businesses and help schools cut costs. Currently, Greek yogurt is placed into the same category as traditional yogurt.
