USDA urged to investigate "meat glue"

State Sen. Ted W. Lieu of California is calling on the Department of Agriculture to investigate "meat glue," an enzyme also known as transglutaminase that is used to patch pieces of meat together. The enzyme, deemed generally safe by the Food and Drug Administration, could cause allergic reactions, he said.
